You will learn how to set up an extension including the manifest file, the different types of extensions you can build & how to quickly prototype your ideas into working extensions. The aim of the course is to show how quickly you can prototype ideas using a Chrome Extension and also to help you get to grips with how extensions are built. Our app will be displaying a list of Todos, which in this case is our data. If you check your Chrome Vue Dev tools tab, you should see the Todos component that we added: 5 Working with data. You have created your first component and imported it. Finally, the last extension is a web scraper / automation tool that will interact with the active web page and perform a set of commands that we can select. If you check your browser, you should see the title we added in the Todos component. We will be building a word of the day new tab extension, the second extension is called “Epic Mode” which will play music whilst we browse from a background page (similar to Noisli), next we will build a simple todo list that will use localStorage. Google Chrome provides many different APIs to its extension developers, such as adding a new page, pop-up, creating notifications, setting up a default search engine, or even creating a context menu item (the menu that shows up when you right-click on a page). Hey there, in this New Year Special we will create 4 extensions in this course from start to finish. If you want to achieve that, learning how to make a Chrome extension is a great start.
